Powder Handling Process Equipment
When US process systems company Caloris was looking for an engineering partner which understood fabrication requirements for dairy industry equipment, they turned to Stafford Engineering Australia. In support of Caloris’ strategic expansion into spray drying, Stafford was tasked with designing and building powder process equipment.
Coordinating remote project supply proved extra challenging in the face of COVID-19, which prevented sitework. All work had to be provided remotely, including collaborative design of powder process equipment utilising a vacuum powder transfer, manufacturing to a process specification and careful shipping to the USA.
Stafford Engineering Australia provided a tailored solution designed to suit the factory’s layout, comply with US requirements for electrical supply and including sanitary finishes on all product contact surfaces. With refined process engineering applied to world-class manufactured products, the end result is an efficient powder process plant making a quality product.

Caloris was making a strategically critical expansion of our product line into Spray Drying in 2019. We needed a partner with technical acumen who understood fabrication requirements for the dairy industry to assist us with some specific crucial sub-componentry. We needed someone agile and responsive, and, if we were going to use a globally remote supplier, someone who was customer-service minded.
Working closely with Leo at Stafford Engineering Australia, all of our requirements and expectations were exceeded.
The design phase of the project was collaborative and the delivery was flawless. And when global travel was essentially shut down with the arrival of COVID-19 we recognized the true value of a partner that was adaptable and committed not only to Caloris’ success but the overall success of the end client.
Caloris has now achieved our strategic goal of expanding our product line and has delivered a world-class plant to our customer. We look forward to our continued growth journey being aligned with the continued relationship with Leo and the team at Stafford Engineering Australia.
